Venafro Free French Cemetery (Venafro, Isernia Province, Molise Region, Italy) WWII French - These men died at the Battle of Monte Cassino, or from wounds received there. 6,000 men from Algeria, Morocco, Tunisia and other African countries who fought on behalf of the French are buried here. Also Frenchmen who had escaped Vichy France, including Jews born in France. The cemetery is divided by religion, with walls naming the missing.
